ONE AND TWO RESUSCITATIONS OF MR. PETER SELLERS
TWO PERSONS, A AND B, DELIVER THE GIVEN DIALOGUE TO ONE ANOTHER, PAUSING AT EACH SPACE BETWEEN EACH LINE ALLOWING THE OTHER TO DELIVER A LINE IN RESPONSE. THE ORDER IS BACK AND FORTH BEGINNING WITH A. REPEAT ENTIRE SEQUENCE TWO OR MORE TIMES.

dialog (taken from two different interrogation scenes from two different Pink Panther movies – in the first, Peter Sellers interrogates, in the second, he is interrogated).

A Now then, the night the chauffeur was shot
B Yes, I have made the Phantom my life’s work.
A The night the chauffeur was killed then what was the chauffeur’s name?
B Yes.
A Miguel
B Yes.
A Well then this Italian
B All of them.
A Well this Spaniard umm Mingwell
B All of them.
A He was furious with Maria Gambrelli
B Yes.
A He tore her dress off. He protested violently and then oh…
B After.
A Oh, I’m terribly sorry I beg you pardon, I did not notice, excuse me
B The modus operandi was obvious. That’s the way the Phantom always works.
A He tore her dress off and at this precise moment the door opened and somebody shot him
B No, the guest list varied.
A Now Maria could not see who the killer was because she was unconscious and the reason she was unconscious is because she received a bump on the head.
B No…no…
A A bump
B That’s correct.
A Now there is only one way she could have received a bump like that. She was hit upon the head by an object and the object was the knob on the closet door.
B Me?
A Somebody was hiding in that closet and when they opened the closet door she received a bump upon the head.
B Yes, but I…
A Don’t tangle words with ‹ oh sorry, I’m terribly sorry Madame, oh
B You’re not suggesting…
A Oh that’s heavy, Maria, oh my darling I’m coming, my darling ‹ Oh, careful with me monsieur, with me, I am a trained expert in karate, my hands are lethal weapons.
B Money?
A ahem, now then, there is something I am very interested to know this room. (FALL)
B Well, ah!…
A What happened, what?
B Now wait just a minute.
A I know I fell off the sofa, Madame, there is no need to tell me With me everything I do is carefully planned, Madame, I know that, now then…
B That’s impossible!
A Uhh, what was I saying, uh
B But, she’s very frugal. She saves – out of the house keeping money!
A Listen you, you daydreaming fool, what are you doing there, I mean can’t you pay attention when I’m talking, don’t you know what I was saying, you’re not listening to me…
B We’ve been married for ten years!
A Would you be kind enough to tell me what it was that I said, yes…
B Yes! No! Wait a minute! I’ve got to think!
A Yes she received a bump on ‹ and listen monsieur next time I might test you without warning so pay attention at all times. Now then whoever was in that closet opened the door and knocked Maria unconscious and whoever the man was that was in that closet had a reason to be in that closet.
B (faint)
A because we found his fingerprints Mr. Bologne and they were your fingerprints
A For what reason?
A Moths ‹ yes moths, moths
A Is that right Maria that you were complaining about moths?
A Oh you mean moths, the flying moths. Yes of course, of course, of course.
A No but what I do not understand is in a household of this size that the question of moths should be brought to the attention of Monsieur. Bologne and not one of the servants or the local moth exterminator, however, for the moment we will pass over that and we will concentrate on another type of local exterminator.
