TWILIGHT WALTZ, ONCE AGAIN, AUGUST 4
Three participants will be in verbal contact with one another by wearing walkie talkie head sets. Two of these three participants will wear small cameras that see the space ahead of them, which is then enlarged and projected by a fourth participant through two liquid crystal video projectors. The fourth participant has also devised a third projection with computer animation which has been arranged to the percussive time of the “Twilight Waltz” used on January 7. This same song will be played separately on two different cassette players in two different parts of the gallery space. The movement of the participants with cameras will be determined by suggestions as to where or how they could position themselves in the space of the gallery, these suggestions coming from one another or the third participant in verbal contact. The participants will use the projected images as the visual arrangement from which suggestions will come from, as these suggestions in turn feed back into the projected arrangement. The participants will use time coordinates to refer to the space of the gallery; for example, North = noon. A different suggestion and response circumstance will occur every five minutes as follows:
1. participant 1 makes suggestions to participant 2, participant 3 responds indirectly to one or the other or to some other cue such as the music or something in the projected images.
2. participant 2 makes suggestions to participant 1, participant 3 repeats step 1.
3. participant 3 makes suggestions to participant 1. participant 2 responds indirectly to one or the other or to some other cue such as the music or something in the projected images.
4. participant 1 makes suggestions to participant 2, participant 3 repeats step 1.
5. participant 2 makes suggestions to participant 1, participant 3 repeats step 1.
6. participant 3 makes suggestions to participant 2, participant 1 responds indirectly to one or the other or to some other cue such as the music or something in the projected images.
